How to Install Audio Drivers for Windows XP

Many computing devices devices require computer software components referred to as "drivers" to greatly help the computer make use of the device correctly. Sound cards require audio drivers to work. Without drivers, sound wont emerge from the speakers. Installing and updating audio drivers is relatively simple and can be achieved automatically through Windows or by hand by downloading the drivers your self.

Click "Start" and "Control Panel. " Then double-click "Administrative Tools" and "Computer Management. " Choose "Device Manager" in the field on the left-hand side of the screen. Search for "Sound, video and game controllers. " Click on the plus sign (+) alongside that field. This can expand a summary of devices under sound, video and game controllers, that will include your sound card. Right click your audio driver in the list and choose "Update Driver. " Follow the guidelines and Windows will automatically look for and install any driver updates.
